Summary: The purpose of this compliance code is to provide practical guidance for employers and hosts who have return to work obligations under the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (the Act.) These publications provide Victorian employers and Return to Work Coordinators with certainty and assistance in meeting their obligations.
If an employer or host adheres to a Return to Work Compliance Code, they are considered to have complied with the obligation in the Act covered by the code. Although it is not mandatory for employers or hosts to comply with compliance codes, those who do comply will be deemed to have met the specific legal obligations outlined in the code that they followed. These codes were developed after extensive consultation with the community and representatives of employers, unions, occupational rehabilitation providers and health practitioners. These groups were consulted about what represents compliance with the Act.
