Your legal duties

New regulations for Occupational Health and Safety came into effect on 18 June 2017.

The OHS Regulations apply to situations where a person can fall more than two metres. These obligations, amongst other specific hazards, are addressed in Chapter 3 of the regulations.

The regulations impose specific obligations on employers. Visit the employers and employees section of this guide for details of duties relating to falls.

What's New

A note to clarify that legislative obligations still apply to the risk of falls below two metres has been added to the OHS Regulations.

Note that employers and self-employed persons still have a duty to volunteers under the OHS Act. The Act requires employers and self-employed persons to protect the health and safety of people from risks associated with their organisation's operations.
