Educating Young Workers

A large proportion of young Victorians combine study with part-time, casual or seasonal work.  Some work as part of an apprenticeship, traineeship or other structured workplace learning program, while many students participate in work experience placements.

For most young people work is a positive and valuable experience, however, there are health and safety risks for young people entering the workforce.

For more information, see WorkSafe’s safety tips for educators.

  • Safe-T1
This website is the hub of the Safe-t1 project - it contains workplace health and safety resources for young people and their teachers.

Resources are mapped to the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) for years 9 and 10.

The Safe-t1 website has been developed by the Victorian Applied Learning Association for WorkSafe Victoria.
