Dangerous Goods Licence Conditions

WorkSafe Victoria may impose conditions, limitations and restrictions on licences as are prescribed in Regulations made under the Dangerous Goods Act 1985 (DG Act) or as WorkSafe deems appropriate to ensure the safety of persons or property or to ensure compliance with the DG Act.

From 09 April 2010 conditions, limitations and restrictions imposed on dangerous goods licences can be identified by a code on the licence card as set out in the table below.

The following abbreviations are used in the table:

WorkSafe may issue or renew a licence subject to any condition, limitation or restriction that it thinks appropriate to ensure the safety of persons and property or to ensure compliance with the DG Act.

Dangerous goods restriction

WorkSafe may impose a condition on the dangerous goods that may or may not be transported in or on a road vehicle driven by the licensee: r 204(2)(a) DG TRR Regs.

Dangerous goods packaging restriction

WorkSafe may impose a condition on the packaging that may or may not be used to transport dangerous goods in or on a road vehicle driven by the licensee: r 204(2)(b) DG TRR Regs

Driver supervision required

WorkSafe may impose a condition that  the licensee requires supervision whilst driving a road vehicle transporting dangerous goods: r 204(2)(e) DG TRR Regs

Medical fitness evidence (required every 6 months)

WorkSafe may impose a condition that the licensee must provide information relating to their ongoing medical fitness to drive a road vehicle: r 204(2)(f) DG TRR Regs
