Are you working from the ground? Each year in the Victorian transport industry, one person is killed in a fall from a truck. 150 truck drivers suffer a serious injury due to a fall from a truck, which is 17% of all serious injuries reported by truck drivers annually. In response to the number of falls from height injuries occurring each year, WorkSafe Victoria has published Prevention of falls in the transport of waste and recyclables to reduce the number of injuries caused during loading and unloading of waste trucks. The guide provides each party in the waste and recyclables supply chain practical safety advice for the collection and disposal of waste and recyclable products, including the high risk work practices they need to avoid, and lower risk solutions they can put in place.
