  • that payments made are reasonable and appropriate.

Network psychologist

A network psychologist is a psychologist who has skills and experience in rehabilitation and helping injured workers to remain at or get back to work.  They have specific skills in managing work-related mental health conditions associated with physical injury and pain, trauma and workplace stress.

Network psychologists help injured workers develop strategies to:

  • return to or stay at work
  • get back to their daily routine
  • learn ways to take an active role in their own recovery, and
  • learn how to cope with and manage their injury.

This page is designed to provide a summary of information, resources and publications relevant to network psychology.

Network psychology

The introduction of network psychology is part of WorkSafe’s commitment to achieving better health and return to work outcomes for injured Victorians.

Choosing a network psychologist has the following benefits:

  • access to a psychologist with skills and experience in helping to rehabilitate injured workers and assist them to remain at or return to work
  • a comprehensive assessment, tailored treatment and ongoing monitoring throughout rehabilitation
  • guidance and a clear explanation about WorkSafe’s policy and procedures
  • no out-of-pocket costs. The WorkSafe Agent will be billed directly to for the assessment and treatment once a claim is approved.

Network psychology is another option for injured workers and does not replace general psychology services. Injured workers still have the option to choose to see another psychologist or healthcare provider.

Locate a network psychologist

Network psychologists are located in Melbourne and in some regional areas.  A list of these providers is on the WorkSafe website at worksafe.vic.gov.au.
