Allied Health IME
Independent medical examiners (IME) are clinical professionals approved by the VWA to conduct independent medical examinations and report their findings for use in claims decisions.
Approximately 40 IME in 5 allied health specialities deliver examinations each year, playing a critical role in ensuring the Scheme provides the right treatments and benefits to injured workers.
For these reasons, an Allied Health IME must be approved under section 112 of the Accident Compensation Act and enter into an individual service agreement with the VWA. This agreement applies stringent service terms, conditions and standards and must be applied before an IME is able to examine injured workers.
