Each year, WorkSafe’s conducts compliance campaigns targeting particular construction safety issues.

Precast concrete panel yards

WorkSafe is currently focusing on the safety of workers in precast panel yards and the manufacture of concrete panels.

WorkSafe expects yards that have been visited in the past to maintain good safety standards, especially in the quality control of the panel manufacturing process.

Mobile plant on civil construction sites

WorkSafe inspectors visited civil construction sites across Victoria as part of a national campaign on the safety of people around mobile plant. The campaign ran during February and March 2007.

HWSA Campaign report - Demolition and Asbestos Removal in the Construction Industry

The Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities [HWSA] trans-tasman compliance project, undertaken in February and March 2006, focused attention on the risks associated with demolition work and associated asbestos removal work.
Evaluation and reporting of this project was jointly undertaken by WorkSafe WA and SafeWork SA. The draft project report was tabled to HWSA at its March 2007 meeting and has now been finalised.
