Mines

Mining can involve significant risks to workers as well as people living or working in the surrounding area.

This guide will help you understand the risks of working in mining, and will explain what you need to do to make your workplace safe from mining hazards.

WorkSafe has also developed 5 core self assessment tools (located on the right under related links) to assist operators of prescribed mines to explore their risk management processes and identify opportunities for improvement. They are based on part 5.3 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 and the user can use them to assess their performance against the regulatory standard. The tools also contain guidance information and references.
