WorkSafe and privacy

WorkSafe Victoria manages Victoria's workers compensation, occupational rehabilitation and workplace safety systems. We aim to work with all Victorians to improve workplace safety and to progressively reduce the incidence, severity and cost to the community of work-related injury and disease.

Our functions and responsibilities require us to collect and handle large amounts of personal, sensitive and health information about injured workers, other members of the public, our staff and people who assist us in the work that we do. We are committed to achieving the highest standards in the protection of privacy and in our handling of personal, sensitive and health information (hereunder referred to as 'information').

We are subject to Victorian privacy legislation: the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), and the Information Privacy Principles and Health Privacy Principles set out in those Acts.

This policy sets out how we collect, use, disclose and otherwise deal with information and how you can request access to your information or enquire about how we deal with your information.
