The WISE process

Registering for WISE is easy. The six steps below show how the process works once you register online.

Step 1. Registering online

When you register online at worksafe.vic.gov.au/wise you can either:

  • register a current job vacancy that is available now, providing details about the position you are looking to fill

OR

  • register your general interest in the program if you don’t have a current job vacancy but think you may have a position coming up in the next couple of months. WorkSafe will then contact you to talk more about the potential vacancy.

Step 2. Matching a worker to your available job

  • If you register a current job vacancy, this information is sent to a network of occupational rehabilitation (OR) providers.
  • The OR providers will then identify if they have a client who would be a good fit for your position. If an OR provider has a potential candidate in mind for your job they will contact you.

Step 3. Selecting your new worker

  • If an OR provider recommends a suitable worker for your position, you will have the chance to consider them as you would any other job applicant.
  • This means you have the opportunity to interview them about their skills, qualifications and experience and decide if they are the right fit for your workplace.

Step 4. Workplace assessment

  • To give employers added confidence that the potential new employee is work ready, an OR provider performs a workplace assessment.
  • This assessment is undertaken to ensure they have the skills and capacity to safely perform the requirements of the new job. This assessment is at no cost to your business.

Step 5. Completing a placement form

  • If the worker accepts your offer of employment, you complete a placement form and send this to the worker’s Agent for approval. The OR provider will assist you to complete this form.
  •  As part of the WISE program the OR provider will maintain contact with you and your new employee for the first 13 weeks of employment.

Step 6. Payments

Once the placement is approved by the Agent you will need to complete WISE payment forms to receive your payments.
