WorkSafe investigates fatality

WorkSafe is investigating the death of a worker in Epping this morning. The incident happened on Cooper Street at about 10am. It appears the 21-year-old worker was in the process of undertaking repair works to a truck when he sustained fatal crush injurie

WorkSafe is at the scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

WorkSafe General Manager for Health and Safety Operations, Lisa Sturzenegger, said the incident was a tragedy.

“The impact a workplace fatality has on the family, friends and the communities around them is profound. Our condolences go out to the man’s family,” she said.

The incident takes Victoria’s workplace death toll for 2012 to nine.
