What it contains

This guidance note advises employees how to decide which type of high visibility clothing they should wear when working near roads during construction work. It explains high visibility clothing requirements under the Code of Practice for worksite safety – Traffic management. This includes the three classifications for high-visibility clothing: Class D – Garments for outdoor daytime use only, Class N – Garments for night-time use only and Class D/N – Garments for day or night use. It also explains:

  • how workers can decide which type of high visibility clothing to use
  • how to work out if the high visibility clothing meets the relevant Australian Standards
