More information on the course

Please be advised under section 69 of the OHS Act, WorkSafe has approved a course for Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) that is being conducted by the Victorian Trades Hall Council.

  • s 69(1) creates an entitlement for elected HSRs to attend training courses approved by WorkSafe Victoria and to be paid for this time. HSRs must give their employer at least 14 days or more notice if they wish to attend this approved HSR training.
  • Deputy HSRs are not entitled to training under this section, unless they are acting in the role of the HSR at the time of the training. An employer can, however, choose to make this training available to DHSRs and pay the appropriate costs.
