WorkSafe approved providers for HSR OHS training courses
This directory provides a list of all WorkSafe approved providers delivering health and safety representative (HSR) occupational health, and safety (OHS) training courses in Victoria.
Under section 7(g)(ii) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act), WorkSafe Victoria ("the Authority") approves courses in occupational health, safety and welfare. Duly elected health and safety representatives (HSRs) and deputy HSRs can attend WorkSafe approved HSR OHS training courses for the purposes of representing their designated work group (DWG).

HSR initial OHS training course
This is a 5-day course intended to equip HSRs with the confidence, skills and knowledge to understand and effectively exercise their powers under the OHS Act (2004).
Under s67 of the OHS Act an employer, if requested, must allow an elected HSR and elected deputy HSR to attend a WorkSafe approved HSR initial course on paid time, pay the cost of the course and any other associated costs. s67 also allows HSRs to choose the course in consultation with their employer.
HSR refresher OHS training course
This is annual training that is available to HSRs and their deputies who have completed the HSR initial course. It aims to refresh their OHS knowledge and skills.
Under s67 of the OHS Act all elected HSRs and deputy HSRs, after completing an initial course of training, have an entitlement for each year they hold office to attend a WorkSafe approved HSR refresher OHS raining course. An employer, if requested, must allow the HSR/deputy HSR to attend on paid time, pay the cost of the course and any other associated costs. s67 also allows HSRs to choose the course in consultation with their employer.
