Overview
Before certain amusement structures can be used in a workplace, you must register the plant design and item of plant with WorkSafe.

Apply for an item of plant registration
You can apply to:
- register an item of plant
- amend your item of plant registration
- renew your item of plant registration.
Item of plant registration is valid for 12 months.
New registration
To apply to register an item of plant, you’ll need the following.
- A plant design registration or certificate of interstate recognition.
- Competent inspection statement – item of plant
- The date that the amusement structure was commissioned or first registered, if available.
- A credit/debit card or PayPal account to pay the fee.
Amendment
To amend a current item of plant registration, you’ll need the following.
- Information to identify the existing registration you want to amend.
- A credit/debit card or PayPal account to pay the fee.
Note, make sure the linked plant design registration is valid. If the linked plant design is altered to the extent it requires new control measures, it must be registered with the issuing authority.
If there are alterations to a plant design registered interstate and recognised by Victoria, you’ll need to apply for a certificate of interstate recognition for the altered design.
Renewal
To renew an item of plant registration, you’ll need the following.
- A valid plant design registration, or certificate of interstate recognition.
- Competent inspection statement – item of plant
- A credit/debit card or PayPal account to pay the fee.
Note, item of plant registration is valid for 12 months. You need to renew your registration each year before it expires.

The fees are based on fee units and subject to change each financial year on 1 July.
