Worker fatally crushed by depot gate

WorkSafe is investigating the death of a truck driver after he was crushed while attempting to close an eight-metre-wide gate at a Dandenong South depot last Thursday.

It is understood the 57-year-old man was leaving the depot at the end of a shift when the gate ran past its supports, became unstable and fell on top of him, before he was found by another driver about 11:45pm.

The death is the 14th confirmed workplace fatality for 2025. There were 21 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
