WorkSafe investigates mine machinery death

A worker has died following an incident at a gold mine in Fosterville on Friday.

It is believed the 53-year-old was operating a cable bolter approximately 1.6 kilometres underground when he became entangled in the machinery about 11:30am.

WorkSafe is investigating.

The death is the 53rd confirmed workplace fatality for 2025. There were 48 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
