It is understood the 49-year-old man was welding on the side of a ship when the incident occurred about 10am. The worker sustained life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.
WorkSafe investigators responded and will determine whether further action is required.
The death is the 24th confirmed workplace fatality for 2026. There were 38 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
