Health practitioner regulation national law registered providers

The mandatory requirements for registered practitioners are governed by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme. Providers must at all times maintain board registration in order to be a WorkSafe registered provider.

Nursing

Application for registration to provide nursing services may be made by individuals or organisations.

Individual nurses must:

  • complete the WorkSafe Application for Registration to Provide Services to Workers form and include their Nursing Board of Australia registration number in the space provided
  • maintain at all times a minimum of $1 million professional indemnity insurance coverage.

Organisations must:

  • complete the WorkSafe Application for Registration to Provide Services to Workers form and include the Nursing Board of Australia registration number of nurses who will be providing nursing services to workers
  • maintain at all times a minimum of $1million professional indemnity insurance coverage.

A WorkSafe provider number will be issued for invoicing purposes.
