This document provides a checklist for employers to decide how well safety is supervised in the workplace. Use this checklist after reading WorkSafe’s Safety supervision - Creating an environment for effective supervision guidance note. This checklist is useful for:

• company directors
• employers
• senior managers
• other workplace decision makers

The checklist covers topics such as:

• creating the right work environment, including supervisors understanding how, and empowered to, manage safety
• role and responsibilities for every person with a defined safety role and supervisors to address occupational health and safety (OHS) issues
• skills and knowledge for all workers and supervisors to work safely
• work practices, including clear workplace policies and procedures to perform tasks and regular OHS meetings
