John has over 20 years' experience working at a Senior Executive level, including the Chief Executive of VicRoads, the Chief Executive Officer of the Environment Protection Authority Victoria and Executive Director of Health and Safety, at WorkSafe Victoria. He was also the Chief Executive of the National Safety Council of Australia and held senior management roles in the Fletcher Challenge organisation.

John is a Non-Executive Director of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Board, a member of St Kilda Football Club Risk, Audit & Compliance Committee, and holds additional memberships on several Advisory Councils.

Maria Wilton AM - Non-Executive Director

Appointed: May 2019

Maria has broad experience in the finance sector and has held leadership positions in asset management and superannuation.

Maria is a Member of the Board of Governors of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, Deputy Chair of Infrastructure Victoria, an External Director of Dexus Wholesale Property Fund and a Director of Australia Post Super, VFMC and the Confident Girls Foundation.

Maria is the former Managing Director and Chair of Franklin Templeton Investments Australia Ltd. Was previously a Board member of the Financial Services Council, Melbourne Water, the TAC, the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Victoria Legal Aid. She was a Trustee Director of Emergency Services and State Super and AGEST.

Maria was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2019 for significant service to the business and finance sector and to the community.

Peter McMullin AM - Non-Executive Director

Peter's diverse and high profile career includes 25 years' experience running a legal practice. Peter holds the position of Special Counsel at the law firm Cornwall Stodart.

Peter is a past President of the Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI), and has held various prominent community and organisational leadership roles. He has high-level expertise in commercial and financial management, and is an experienced consultant and mediator across the public and private sectors.

Peter was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021 for significant service to business, to the law, and to the community.

Doug Kearsley - Non-Executive Director

Doug has over 30 years’ experience working at a Senior Executive and Board Director in the statutory insurance and finance sector, including significant roles with the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria (TAC), WorkSafe Victoria, the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) and ESSSuper (current Director).

Doug has also provided advice to a number of other Injury and Disability Insurance Schemes around Australia and brings in-depth understanding of statutory schemes and the drivers of success including strategic planning, risk management, financing and capital management.

Julie Warren - Non-Executive Director

Julie has recently retired from the National Workers Union, where she served for over two decades as an organiser, educator, negotiator and campaigner before being the first woman elected as President of the Victorian Branch. Her commitment to workers has given her a deep understanding of issues pertaining to work and the impact of a changing economy on individuals, their families and their communities.

The Union is 50,000 membership organisation covering workers in the warehousing, manufacturing, food, dairy, agriculture, pharmaceutical, chemical and oil, and market research industries.

Julie has been at the forefront of campaigns that have delivered significant social change and has represented the view of workers and their families to Governments, businesses and the broader community. She has a strong understanding of stakeholder views and has worked with employees, employers, industry groups as well as State and Federal Government.

Julie is a Non-Executive Board Director at the Portable Long Service Leave Authority and Chair of Migrant Workers Centre Inc.

Elizabeth Lukin - Non-Executive Director

Elizabeth is a strategic communications professional with over 25-years experience consulting to leaders in business, sport, government, NFP and membership organisations and unions.

Beginning her working life as a nurse, Elizabeth was most recently General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Communications for the Australian Football League, following a career as an owner and director of one of Australia’s most successful public affairs, research and campaign agencies, Essential Media Communications.

Elizabeth has specialised in issues and crisis communications management, and her professional practice is driven by research strategies that seek to understand public and stakeholders views, and broader social themes that drive consumer, fan and citizen behaviour.

Flavia Gobbo - Non-Executive Director

Flavia has a wealth of experience in workplace injury insurance, corporate law and governance.

Flavia is currently the Chair of WorkCover Queensland, having previously served as Chair of the former Queensland Workers Compensation regulator, QComp.

Flavia is also Chair of the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA); the Deputy Chair of Rowing Australia and food charity SecondBite; and was previously a director of Employers Mutual Limited.

An experienced senior lawyer, Flavia is a recognised legal practitioner of the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Jane is the Principal of Bridging Policy and Practice where her work encompasses regulation, governance, integrity and transformation.

Jane is also a non-executive Director on the boards of the Victorian Asbestos Eradication Authority (VAEA), TRY Australia and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC); and she is a member of the Department of Treasury and Finance Audit & Risk Committee.

Jane has previously held Victorian public sector leadership roles.
