This award recognises innovative, practical approaches that reduce risk and prevent harm on farms including for those businesses who operate at times on farms or provide services to farms.

It celebrates initiatives that improve systems, influence behaviour, and deliver measureable safety outcomes. The award highlights collaboration, leadership and scalable solutions that strengthen safety culture and support healthier and safer farms, agriculture businesses and farming communities.

Judging criteria

Keep this criteria in mind as this is what the assessment and judging panels will be assessing your entries with.

Commitment

  • Does the response demonstrate commitment to creatively solving the challenges of health, safety and wellbeing on farm and in agriculture service businesses?
  • Do you consider the approach ‘exceptional’ in raising the bar in safety for the agriculture industry?
  • How does the nominee demonstrate pro-active industry leadership in their safety innovation or solution?

Consultation

  • Is there evidence of consultation and collaboration in the design and development of the safety solution?
  • Was there any feedback from end-users of the safety solution?
  • What type and how was it incorporated into the safety solution?

Risk management

  • Have they clearly identified the system, risk, hazards and/or challenges?
  • Is there evidence of sufficient risk management, including for higher order of controls, in the implementation of the safety innovation or solution?

Evaluation

  • How were the improvements/solution in the workplace or farm health, safety and wellbeing measured?
  • What was the outcome?
  • How effective was the safety solution and in improving in a practical way, farm or workplace systems and changing how those working on farms or farming businesses behaviour?

Transferability

  • Is there potential for the safety solution to have broader applications or be saleable?
  • How and to what extent?
  • Have these broader applications been applied?
