WorkSafe issues five different types of explosives licence for tasks such as manufacturing, storing, transporting, selling and discharging.
If you have submitted an application for a licence or licence renewal under the Dangerous Goods (Explosives) Interim Regulations 2021 (former Regulations) and that application has not yet been determined, the application may be determined in accordance with the Dangerous Goods (Explosives) Regulations 2022. A new application is not required.

The application for an explosives licence authorises you to drive a vehicle transporting explosives by land above the prescribed quantities.

To use fireworks you must hold a licence to use fireworks as a pyrotechnician. This licence also allows you to temporarily store and transport limited amounts of fireworks.
Complete this online form to notify WorkSafe at least seven days before discharging fireworks or Chinese firecrackers.
