myWorkSafe privacy collection statement

This notice sets out what type of information we collect about you when you sign up for a myWorkSafe account, why we are collecting it, who we might share it with and how to contact us.

Who we are

The Victorian WorkCover Authority (WorkSafe) is a body corporate established under the Accident Compensation Act 1985. Contact your nearest WorkSafe office.

What personal information we collect

We are collecting your name and email address plus analytics data when you register as a user and use our online services. We are thoughtful about the personal information we ask you to provide and only collect information about you if it is necessary to fulfil our functions and conduct our online activities. It is not possible to offer these services to you anonymously.

Why we are collecting it

We collect your name and email address (mandatory) and mobile phone number (optional) to create your account.

If you decide to complete a linked user survey, we will also keep a copy of your answers to analyse responses and improve service delivery.

We also collect certain information by automated means when you use our online services, such as website visitor numbers and the pages you click on. By collecting this information, we learn how to optimise the platform and improve your experience. We collect this data through various means, including the use of 'cookies' and IP addresses. We will use the information you provide when you create your account to pre-fill your details if you complete another transaction with us, such as apply for a licence.

Who we might share it with

We may share your name and the email address you provided on sign-up with your employer and your colleagues (current and future) who register for a myWorkSafe Account.

We will also share your data with third parties engaged to provide services to WorkSafe Victoria.

Employers can connect with employees and suppliers who hold myWorkSafe accounts and share their business profile information with them. If you are invited to access a business profile through your myWorkSafe account your name and email address will be visible to all account holders connected with that business. Employers must be authorised to share this data on your behalf before they do so and must confirm this authorisation with WorkSafe.

If you change jobs, you or your employer can disable access to business accounts you are connected with. If you wish to have your personal details de-identified or no longer want to use myWorkSafe, please contact WorkSafe Advisory on 1800 136 089.

Security

We collect and use personal and health information in accordance with WorkSafe's Privacy Policy, and Privacy Statement. While no online service is 100% secure, we work very hard to protect information about you against unauthorised access, modification or deletion. We monitor for potential vulnerabilities or attacks and offer advanced security settings.
