Braeside fatality takes workplace toll to 18

A 39 year-old male worker has died in hospital from his injuries after an incident last month where the elevating work platform he was operating was struck by a car at Braeside.

It is understood the man was in the process of loading the platform onto a towing vehicle when the car struck the bucket of the platform. The incident took place on 11 August.

The tragedy takes to 18 the total number of workplace fatalities this year, compared to 23 fatalities at the same time last year.

WorkSafe’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
