Further update: Richmond crane incident

Work to dismantle a crane damaged by high winds at a Richmond construction site has commenced.

Favourable weather conditions at the site allowed for construction experts to begin the task using two mobile cranes this morning.

The completion of the work will depend on weather conditions remaining suitable.

WorkSafe Head of Hazardous Industries and Industry Practice Michael Coffey said the safety of workers and the public needed to remain the priority as the work continued.

An exclusion zone around the Lennox St site remains in place and WorkSafe engineers are at the scene.
