Road worker dies in hospital after traffic crush

A traffic controller has died after being crushed between two vehicles in Dandenong North on Tuesday.

It is understood the 55-year-old woman was guiding a reversing truck onto Fillmore Road when a parked ute rolled backwards and she was pinned between the vehicles about 7:30am.

She was taken to hospital but later died from her injuries.

WorkSafe is investigating.

The death is the fifth confirmed workplace fatality for 2024. There were 12 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
