Grants delivering improvements in workplace safety and support

Innovative approaches that strengthen worker consultation and help prevent workplace harm are set to benefit from the latest round of WorkSafe grants.

Grants of up to $300,000 are available for projects that promote awareness of the right to be consulted, strengthen employer capability, and demonstrate the value of consultation and health and safety representatives in improving workplace health and safety across Victoria.

Funding will focus on target industries and prioritise evidence-based initiatives that reinforce worker consultation as a foundational mechanism for preventing workplace harm.

WorkSafe Chief Executive Officer Cathy Henderson said a safe workplace was one where employees and employers could raise issues, talk about them, and solve problems together.

"WorkSafe is focused on creating opportunities for greater consultation between employers, workers and health and safety representatives, which will result in safer workplaces," Ms Henderson said.

"Through our latest grants round, we are backing projects that will foster new partnerships to reach workers and employers and deliver public awareness initiatives that strengthen safety culture and reduce harm."

Whether it be through technology, knowledge and resources, or new ways of working, WorkSafe grants support solutions that make the biggest difference and have the greatest impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of Victorian workers.

This includes five projects sharing in $1.24 million in funding through WorkSafe’s previous grant round, to develop initiatives preventing or minimising risks from hazards that pose the greatest threat to workers in the manufacturing industry.

  • SisterWorks Incorporated – Occupational Health and Safety training for refugee and migrant women entering manufacturing in Dandenong.
  • STEM College, RMIT University – translating best practice Occupational Health and Safety across research and training facilities.
  • NCI Holdings – employee-led ergonomic innovation program focused on safer manual handling practices.
  • Australian Industry Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre – building a strong safety culture for manufacturing apprentices.
  • Spirits Victoria – developing a Code of Practice for flammable goods and explosive atmospheres in distilleries.

Eligible organisations including employers, community or local groups, and employee or employer associations can apply for the 2026-27 round of WorkSafe grant funding from today until Sunday 6 September.
