This document tells you how to reduce or eliminate the risk of electricians suffering electric shock while working on houses, shops and small commercial premises. It explains:

  • an employer and employee’s Occupational Health and Safety duties
  • how to control electric shock risks by de-energising installations and using signage to advise people of the work being done
  • how to verify the installation is de-energised and use safe systems of work
  • when and how workplaces must prepare a safe work method statement (SWMS), construction induction training and site specific inductions
