Plant operators and service personnel risk falling from earthmoving equipment during onsite inspection, maintenance or repairs. This guide advises which control measures employers can use to keep employees safe. This includes:

  • eliminating risks by working from the ground or on solid constructions, providing physical fall protection and using work positioning systems and ladders
  • developing a safe work statement for tasks performed at heights of over two metres
  • buying earthmoving equipment with guardrails mounting points or buying guardrails that can be fitted to existing equipment
