What it contains

The WIRC Act merges the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (AC Act) and the Accident Compensation (WorkCover insurance) Act 1993 (ACWI Act). The WIRC Act aims to reduce the regulatory burden of workers compensation legislation to help employers and workers understand their rights, obligations and responsibilities under the legislation. This guide provides an overview of the WIRC Act and is useful for:

  • employers
  • workers
  • service providers
  • self-insurers

The guide explains key provisions in the WIRC Act and where to find them in the Act. It also explains when the AC Act still applies.
