Following the sudden loss of a family member, it may be hard to think clearly, particularly financial issues. WorkSafe has made it easier to access certain payments aimed at helping support family members experiencing financial hardship as result of a lost income.

• you might be eligible if you are a dependent of a worker who WorkSafe has deemed died of a work-related injury
• early payments cover things like counselling, funeral costs and a short-term bereavement pension
• early payments don’t affect your formal compensation claim.
