Amendments to the Accident Compensation Act 1985 that affect how worker impairments are assessed.

What it contains

An Independent Impairment Assessment is an appointment with a medical practitioner who is specially trained to evaluate permanent impairment. After an appointment this doctor will then write a report. Impairment Assessment reports provide information to the WorkSafe Agent that is used to make a decision about a worker’s impairment benefit claim.

This memorandum adds further context to Sections 98C and E of the Act, covering:

  1. supporting medical material
  2. selection of an IMP
  3. material prior to Medical Panel referral
  4. disbursements
  5. legal fees (other than disbursements)
