Shape

What it contains

The purpose of the MoU is to promote a collaborative, best practice approach to the regulation of the transportation of dangerous goods by rail. It sets out arrangements to support communication, co-ordination and co-operation between ONRSR and the Competent Authorities on overlapping areas or responsibility to:

  1. ensure that the parties are aware of each other's regulatory functions
  2. encourage and facilitate the sharing of information between the parties
  3. encourage opportunities for combined learning and professional development to enhance delivery, and
  4. ensure that the parties take steps to minimise, where possible, the regulatory burden on regulated person, companies and organisations where both parties are enquiring into the same safety issue

The current MoU is for the period 2022 to 2025.
