Shape

What it contains

WorkSafe consulted employers, employees and duty holders when developing the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (Crystalline Silica) Regulations (Regulations). Interested individuals and members of the public were invited to provide their comment.

Feedback and engagement from our stakeholders has played a vital part in making sure the Regulations will strengthen the regulatory regime to better protect workers from exposure to respirable crystalline silica.

On the 22 January 2021 the Regulations were available for public comment for 28 days. WorkSafe received 32 submissions which it considered and responded to before finalising the Regulations.

This document covers the consultation process, and summarises the matters raised in public comment submissions and WorkSafe's responses to these, including how they have informed the Regulations.
