Premium guideline: Penalties for providing an incorrect certified statement of rateable remuneration

What it contains

Employers are required to provide WorkSafe with a certified statement of rateable remuneration at the end of each financial year and sometimes WorkSafe may ask you to provide a certified statement of rateable remuneration during a review. There are penalties for providing an incorrect one, but they depend on how much the employer was at fault.

When you need to provide a certified statement of rateable remuneration and what WorkSafe takes into account when calculating penalties for incorrect statements, including:

  • whether the employer took reasonable care to provide an accurate statement
  • whether the incorrect statement was made accidentally or deliberately
  • whether the employer provided more information during the review, or tried to hide information
