A report prepared for WorkSafe Victoria.
Work-related violence (WRV) is widely acknowledged as a key hazard contributing to physical and mental injuries in the residential disability sector in Victoria. WRV involves incidents in which a person is abused, threatened, or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work. Residential support workers are at risk of WRV from multiple sources: residents, family members, and colleagues.
WorkSafe Victoria partnered with National Disability Services (NDS) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to better understand the problem and identify solutions to drive systemic change.
