About this award category
This category acknowledges elected health and safety representatives (HSRs) who have represented their designated work group in an outstanding manner.
If you know an individual who has been elected under section 54 of the Health and Safety Act who is leading the way in health and safety, submit an entry so we can share their stories and celebrate their success.
- If you are not an elected HSR, you may consider a submission in the OHS Leadership/Achievement category.
- Please ensure you only complete one entry for every health and safety representative nomination.
Keep this criteria in mind as this is what the assessment and judging panels will be assessing your entries with.
To what extent does the HSR demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety and representation?
To what extent does the HSR foster representation and communication in the workplace?
To what extent does the HSR fulfil their powers and function under the Act?
Are the achievements outstanding considering the barriers faced?

Health and Safety Representative of the Year
Sally Collier-Clarke and Sara Jorgensen have represented their colleagues on health and safety matters at Bendigo Health since 2018. They successfully campaigned to have the number of staff on the ward during night shifts increased from seven to eight nurses and always work to ensure their colleagues can provide a high level of clinical care, without risking their health and safety.
