Questions for your first day at work

You might have a lot of questions about your new job on the first day. Here's a few things you can ask, if they haven't been mentioned in your induction.

Questions

As you read the questions, think about how you would say them in your own way.

Go-to people at work

Who do I ask about my hours/pay/leave/breaks?
Who would I ask if I need to change my shifts or availability?
Do we have a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) or safety rep?
Who do I tell if I'm uncomfortable with a staff member/customer?

Doing your job

Risks of my job (Is there anything you think I should watch out for in my role?)
What do I do if I see something unsafe?
Can you please show me how to do ………… again?

Questions that make you go UMM...

Who do I ask if I need to go to the bathroom?
What do I do if I need to take a break?
If I’m not sure about how to do something, where can I go for help?

Bonus questions

Where is the first aid kit and emergency exits?
Can you please send me/print out the induction information?
